We already have machines that can do the job for us. Fleshy ones. sure, they take a few years to grow, but that probably won't last too long if we really push it.

What is the mind that produces its successor, a superior? Why, a scientist, of course. Someone who knows a medium and can work in it efficiently to improve it. We can build as many robots as you like once we've already got the hyperintelligent designers.
